Gina-B Silkworks brings a wide range of specialist craft kits, materials, publications and tools. We focus on traditional textile crafts, often updating these with specially designed tools for a modern audience. We try to bring kits that will help build skills that the end user can go on to use long after the kit materials have been used, and our range of tools helps to support this. Our key lines include button making, Teneriffe lace looms, Flower Comb ribbon ruching tools and our Japanese crafts range We are also the makers of the Creatiframe textile art looms and the Paperlathe system for tassel & bead making. We continue to develop items for other forms of passementerie too, including knotting, ganutell, braiding and weaving. The company began with Gina making reproduction passementerie (textile trimmings) for theatre, museums, palaces, films and the like. She also gave talks, wrote articles and taught workshops on the techniques, many of which were nearly lost. Mark came on board, and began to design specialist tools to use in the teaching. In its current form, the company started as a way to reach people who could not attend the passementerie workshops – our first products were button making DVDs and the materials to make buttons. Other instructional DVDs soon followed. Gina does still teach and make bespoke items for clients.
